Releasing physical tension has many benefits, and according to Harvard health, you can use meditation to reduce physical and mental stress.
They discuss how physical exercise can help release tension from your body. They also present research on how you can learn how to let go of physical tension by harnessing the power of your own mind.
Mental stress can speed the heart and raise the blood pressure.
Scientific studies demonstrate that meditation can, in fact, slow the heart rate, lower the blood pressure, reduce the breathing rate, diminish the body’s oxygen consumption, reduce blood adrenaline levels, and change skin temperature.
Thus, this research shows that meditation can actually reverse the physiological signs of stress. You can read more about it in Harvard Health, ‘Exercising to Relax’.
